Ocean Jewel

I wanted to draw something for Mermay, and I got inspired by Amina Mucciolo's amazing hair and ended up doing a mermaid with rainbow box braids. Then everything sort of spiraled out of control from there. I've been trying to work on speed (amongst other things) lately, which is all well and good but it's been a while since I really made a colored pencil illustration that I've been happy with so I decided to just take my time with this one and have fun. I mean, I always have fun, but still. I'm really happy with this mermaid design, she's super cute. My scanner washed out the colors and made it a lil paler and less vibrant though, which is unfortunate, but oh well.
